SAFETY MEASURES

ELIMINATE FOOD SOURCES AND SMELLS!

- Garbage day is Monday! Put garbage outside on day of pickup, not the night before. Never put garbage out in plastic sacks, and only use cans with secure lids.

- If you are leaving and can't put your garbage out on Monday, take it with you or to the gas station dumpsters. Always latch the garbage dumpsters.

- Spoil garbage in cans with bleach or ammonia

- Keep barbecue grills clean.

- Don't feed pets outside.

- Don't leave food near a window sill or on a counter near an open window.

- Put everything possible down your garbage disposal.

- Don't feed wild animals; feeding them is illegal. (Section 251.3 CA Code of Regulations). The maximum penalty is a $1,000 fine and a year in jail

Eliminate Temptations

- Close windows at night on accessible ground floors and decks.

- Keep garbage doors closed at all times.
